Providencia Cigars Announces the Production Release of

La Misión Lancero

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

October 12, 2018

Fort Worth, TX – Providencia Cigars is pleased to announce their latest, limited production, cigar – La Misión.

La Misión (The Mission) brings the company’s production line to five blends, joining the ranks of the El Santo, El Padre, Trinitas, and The Hostage. With the addition of La Misión, the company completes the story of Providencia Cigars Founder Jim Faber’s “mission” to Honduras which started as a professional soccer player and turned into a mission to organize youth soccer camps to get boys and girls off the street in a gang littered environment.

Jim Faber, founder of Providencia Cigars, states:

“I never imagined that a short term mission trip to Honduras would turn into 15+ years of my life living and working with some of the most amazing people in the world. “La Misión ” (the mission) is a tribute to the all the hard work and sacrifice that so many people made over those years. I was just honored to be a small spoke in the wheel in God’s vast and eternal plan.”

La Misión will be available in a single 7.5 x 38 lancero finished with a traditional pig tail cap.

The multi-country blend of La Misión starts with rich Honduran and Nicaraguan filler that is bound with a sweet Indonesian leaf all wrapped with a well-aged, dark Honduran Habano wrapper. As with all cigars produced by Providencia Cigars, the Honduran leaf used in La Misión is planted, grown, and harvested by Providencia Cigars on a private farm in Honduras.

Medium to full in strength, the La Misión blend offers a balanced profile of pepper, cocoa, and spice with an undernote of caramel sweetness.

La Misión comes packaged in 10 – count cedar boxes and bundles of 11 with an MSRP of $9.99 per cigar/ $99.90 per box/bundle. Current production is limited to 1,050 cigars.

La Misión is produced at the La Pequena Vega Cigar Factory in Danli, Honduras.

Providencia Cigars will be taking orders and shipping La Misión starting this week.

Artwork for the La Misión was done by JT Design Studio who designed the cigar bands as well as the inner box lids.

Ezra Zion acquires Nomad Cigar Company

As many of you may have seen yesterday across various social media and cigar media sites, Ezra Zion Cigar Company has acquired Nomad Cigar Company.

“Nomad is an artisan boutique brand with an emphasis on quality and craftsmanship. Fred has been a close friend and colleague for years. We’re honored to be entrusted with such an institution.” stated Ezra Zion owner Chris Kelly.

Nomad Cigars will be distributed nationally by TX Distribution, which is owned by Ezra Zion and operates from their warehouses in Alvord, Texas.

“I feel confident that not only will Chris and Kyle take Nomad Cigar Company to the next level, but will also preserve what has brought it to this point.” noted Fred Rewey.

Nomad blends currently in the market will continue to be available from retail brick and mortar shops.

“So where are we taking Nomad? Well, we’ve got some very special blends just waiting to be released—really next level stuff! We will definitely be doing some very cool limited offerings under the Nomad brand.” noted Ezra Zion owner Kyle Hoover.

“We’d like an outlet for our more edgy and experimental stuff—both in terms of cigar making and also art concepts. There are some ideas that we feel might not exactly fit as an Ezra Zion release. Nomad gives us the chance to color outside the lines.” added Kelly.

The companies are currently transitioning business operations and logistics, etc. During this transition, Nomad retailers can continue to order from their current Nomad sales reps.

More branding updates and wholesale ordering instructions will be available soon.

“Our goal is to have the “New Nomad” unveiled to the public soon. I think people are going to be very stoked!” added Hoover.

CigarHawk.com would like to say “Congratulations” to all parties involved and we look forward to what’s next for everyone.

Providencia Cigars Announces Aromatic Aged Event Cigars

Providencia Cigars Announces Aromatic Aged Event Cigars

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 14, 2018

Fort Worth, TX – Just off the heels of the Hostage Release, Providencia Cigars will be offering special cigars, which have been created using the company’s proprietary “Aromatic Aging” process.

Jim Faber, Providencia Cigars founder explains:

The production process includes storing the tobacco leaves in a separate humidor in their Danli, Honduras factory. The Meritage blend uses a local Honduran red wine for the aromatic process. The length of time used for the aging process is unspecified.

The resulting sweet floral notes are something quite unique, yet subtle through the smoking experience.

The 5.5 x 52 pressed torpedo Meritage, contains select Nicaraguan binder and ligero filler leaf, all beautifully cloaked with a toothy Mexican San Andrés wrapper.

It will be offered primarily as an event special, and also available at select retailers in limited quantities.

The Meritage, like all Providencia cigars, are produced at the La Pequena Vega Cigar Factory in Danli, Honduras.

Artwork for the Meritage was done by JT Design Studio, who designed the cigar bands as well as the inner box lids.

Providencia Cigars Announces Release of “The Hostage”

Providencia Cigars Announces

Release of “The Hostage”

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

September 12, 2018

Fort Worth, TX – Providencia Cigars is pleased to announce the release of The Hostage, the company’s latest limited production launch. The Hostage is the 4th production blend for the young Texas cigar company and it promises to be as bold as the story behind the name.

The Hostage tells the harrowing story of Providencia Cigars founder Jim Faber who was held at gun point in the parking lot of a youth soccer field in Honduras. As explained by Jim:

“Through my soccer work and mission in Honduras I got close to the mayor of the town and was eventually asked if I would consider helping young members of a gang get off the street through my soccer camps and school. Accepting the challenge, I developed a friendship with the young players and their parents as we helped to turn their lives by way of soccer.

One day at the field, I was abducted by some men who forced me into a car. Some of the dads stepped in to help me amidst a flurry of gun fire and I was eventually able to get free.

I was later told by the US Military investigator that a Mexican gang had moved into the country and they believed it was these gang members that tried to kidnap me.”

Faber, who lived in Honduras from 1997-2011 has a deep love for the area and the citizens of this beautiful Central American country. It is this love that drove him to create a cigar and pay tribute to those that saved his life that day.

The Hostage is a limited production, 6 x 52 box-pressed toro with a blend described as:

  • Wrapper – San Andrés
  • Binder – Indonesian
  • Filler – Nicaragua and Honduran Ligero

This cigar offers the experienced palate, a complex flavor profile down to the finish with a solid full-strength body of smoke.

The Hostage comes packaged in 10 count cedar boxes and bundles of 11 with an MSRP of $9.99 per cigar/ $99.90 per box/bundle. Current production is limited to 1,050 cigars.

The Hostage is produced at the La Pequena Vega Cigar Factory in Danli, Honduras.

Southern Draw announces the “Cedrus” IPCPR 2018

Discover CEDRUS by Southern Draw Cigars – only at IPCPR 2018.

A cigars ability to be different things to different people – and to be – in effect, the cornerstone of a tribute – was the starting point for the fifth core blend from Southern Draw Cigars.

We continue the Southern Draw Cigars tradition of sharing our faith, embracing the flora around us and by offering tribute to those people that have most inspired our family, through the branding of our cigars. Originating from one of our “stealth blends” CEDRUS has been five years in the making and will initially be available in a box pressed Belicoso Fino 5.5 x 52, a special size known as “THE HOGAN”. THE HOGAN will be presented in individually numbered 10 count boxes during IPCPR 2018, Las Vegas, NV in Booth #1065.

CEDRUS – THE HOGAN, the origin of the name:

1. Faith: The Latin name is Cedrus libani or Lebanese Cedar trees were highly sought after for ancient woodworking. The woods high quality, pleasant scent and firmness made it a popular building material for Holy temples, palaces and sailing vessels. Cedars popularity endures today as it is the most utilized wood in the premium cigar industry and the image of the CEDRUS tree serves as the biblical inspiration for our brand art. 2. Flora: Western Red Cedar known as “the Hogan”, native to the Pacific United States, growing to 200’ tall and living up to 1,000+ years, this tree demonstrates the firm, reliable and beautiful characteristics of cedar. Our bridge to an ancient symbol and a wood that has proven valuable through the ages. 3. People: We offer tribute to Phil and Shelly Hogan, a relationship that began in 1996, a friendship turned “closer than family”. Their love and support of Southern Draw Cigars began in 2014 when they rallied family and friends to support our mission even in the face of uncertain risk. Their contributions have been as steadfast and enduring as the cedar tree even as they have humbly remained in the shadows of our early successes. Phil, U.S. Navy Retired, is the most honorable and accountable guy we know and someone who we could only aspire to be like and Shelly, has been a tireless supporter of all things we do, a helping hand of 20 years that has quietly contributed much to SDC’s early success. The gracious and generous Hogan’s will now be celebrated with their own incomparable hand crafted cigar. We offer you an opportunity to get to know them during IPCPR 2018, they will be available to share their stories of military service, international travel and a limited amount of their new cigar.

CEDRUS – THE HOGAN, the blend profile

Robert Holt shared some of his insight into the blend in a special Belicoso Fino size and its namesake, THE HOGAN, “My snapshot of the CEDRUS blend transports us to the ancient soils of Indonesia, a place aptly named the “Spice Islands” where we have methodically selected this rich, reddish brown colored wrapper. As this cigar burns, a savory perfume of what I consider nutmeg, toasted clove, cinnamon and cedar aromas compliment the naturally fermented tobacco tastes and awaken my palate, an intentional profile representing the diverse Asian food cultures explored (and enthusiastically shared) by the Hogan’s during and after their 20 year service in the U.S. Navy. Playing a supporting role to the unique spice profile is the medium bodied strength and semi-sweet chocolate notes of classic Dominican Republic and Nicaraguan tobaccos. A retrohale offers me a more powerful burst of hard-wood charcoal, red/white pepper and herb-like notes that stem from tobaccos of the lesser known high mountain region of Quilali, Nicaragua. CEDRUS is no doubt, our most distinguished tasting cigar and the gorgeous Belicoso Fino will be offered in a specially designed presentation box. This release is a commitment to excellence and a statement that we wish to grow Southern Draw Cigars into a global brand. Although you may not share my experience of the specific flavors and aromas, it is my prayer that you too enjoy the new blend and share our message of CEDRUS – THE HOGAN.”

The Themis Lancero is announced.

Pennsylvania (Thursday June 21, 2018) ——

Cubariqueño Cigar Co. announces the release of the Protocol Themis Lancero for the 2018 IPCPR. This is the company’s third lancero offering. Following the success of their prior lanceros which both took #1 Cigar of the year for 2016 on Cigar Federation and 2017 on Tiny Tim’s Cigar World, the company says they will continue with more lancero releases. The cigars are being produced at Erik Espinosa’s LaZona Factory in Estelí, Nicaragua. The Themis Lancero will be available in a 7 1/2 X 38 format in boxes of 10. The blend consists of a Ecuadorian Connecticut wrapper with Nicaraguan binder and Nicaraguan fillers. The Themis has been extremely successful for the company, with the Themis Toro giving the company their second #1 Cigar of the Year on Developing Palates 2017 Top 25 Cigars, along with placings on 12 other 2017 Top 25 lists across the collective cigar media outlets. MSRP is set at $10.50 per cigar & $105.00 / box of 10. Cigars are available now on BerkeleyHumidor.com and are shipping to retailers on July 1, 2018. Cubariqueño will be located inside the Espinosa Cigar booth this year at the 2018 IPCPR trade show.

Holding true to the previous 2 releases the Themis Lancero is one I have anticipated for some time and can’t wait to try it. I have no doubt, much like the 2 releases before it, it will not disappoint. As I stated when I reviewed the original release, I am not typically a Connecticut fan but this one is not your average Connecticut cigar. I look forward to trying one soon.
